Quite possibly our most challenging formwork project to date! Our client, Salini Impregilo (AUS), required a formwork solution to suit a very complex pier structure with both a 6 metre and 10 metre height, to be achieved without any ties.
The technical expertise of our in-house design engineers created this solution with a custom designed, special steel formwork structure, restrained by rentable Uni-span MK trusses. This design formulated the solution required, being no ties and a Class II finish.
The below Uni-span formwork systems were supplied for a 6 month period:
|FORMWORK SYSTEM||TONNAGE SUPPLIED|
|MK Trusses & Framework||65|
|Enkoform Wall Formwork||20|
Technical expertise aside; another solution aspect that gave Uni-span the competitive edge for this project was that all MK trusses and MK bearing installation platforms were preassembled at Uni-span’s Huntingwood premises. The assembly areas are all under cover and there are forklifts to utilise as and when required. Fabricated tables ensuring ergonomic working heights were created for the build and technical assistance was just a few metres away – with our design engineers working in the office next door to the warehouse assembly area. Trucks were able to reverse right up to the assembly area for easy transfer and loading. The series of photos below, show the sequence of events:
- Ergonomic tables being used to assemble the trusses/platforms.
- Stored and ready for transport to site.
- Easily loaded for transport.
- A 3D image of the complete formwork structure.
