A major upgrade to the Nambour Sewage Treatment Plant catered for the increasing population in the area, increased the standard of treatment provided, reduced the impact on the environment and improved the quality of water discharged to the Maroochy River. Options have been investigated to increase the capacity of the Nambour STP to approximately 10 million litres/day to meet the anticipated growth in the region. This treatment plant serves the catchments of Nambour, Woombye, Palmwoods, Yandina and Eumundi and is located to the east of Nambour, beside the Bruce Highway.
Uni-span provided a formwork solution to the 7 metre high wall pours with 9 pour stages. The ORMA 80kPa system was selected as the best solution to provide the market leading class 2 finish, without the requirements to reface the panel surface with new plywood. A rationalised set of kit, planned for 2 pour sequencing across the job, provided the perfect gear requirements to complete pours 1 to 9. This system is designed to support high concrete pressures with a plywood shuttering face, which provides that smooth and pristine finish. 2 x Scaffold stair towers (2.7m x 1.2m bay) supported this formwork solution by allowing access to the walkways in order to pour the concrete.
Rimtel Civil engaged Uni-span to design and supply a formwork solution for the construction of the MBR tanks of the Nambour STP upgrade project.
Rimtel Civil notes the following:
- Generally all equipment is in good condition
- The construction designs exceeded expectations
- Uni-span and their staff have gone beyond the call of duty and have been punctual and flexible in the delivery and off-hiring of equipment
Rimtel Civil has worked with Uni-span and the ULMA system to deliver successful projects time after time. Through this process we have developed a positive relationship with Uni-span and highly recommend both the ULMA formwork system and the service that Uni-span has to offer.
